Chandrashila is the summit of Tugnath. Located at an elevation of 4000 mts above sea level it offers breathtaking views of Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks.Trek to Chandrashila Trek starts from Chopta Trek which takes one to Tungnath (highest Shiva temple in the World), from here it is a kilometer long, and a steep trek. There is thick snow on this summit stretch from December mid till the end of April. The Trek is started usually early in the morning when it is still Dark to make sure that everyone witnesses the most picturesque sunrise lighting up the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas. Chandrashila trek is accessible thorughout the year but Autumn and Winter trek are the most famous. The trek from Chopta to Tungnath is accessible via a cemented trail. From your campsite, take this trail. It is a very steep walk.
